Handmade Additions

We came home from our first trip with a bunch of ideas about what we could do to better personalize and utilize the space within Pearl, our 21C.

Emily got right to work. She ordered some cloth samples for new pillow covers, began making some prototypes for overhead storage organizers, designed liners for the built-in cubbies, and then learned a new crafting technique for our waste bin. A week or so later we had some awesome new handmade additions for our camper.

We have plans for more but these pillows not only look awesome with the dinette fabric but have proven to be extremely functional in the space.

The Escape 21C comes with really handy cubbies next to the door for things like dog leashes, and remotes. They are made of plastic which is fine, but can be a bit jarring when you toss something in. Emily made us some liners to increase the usable space and soften the blow as we inevitably toss things in throughout the day.

We spent a lot of time considering having an amish community hand weave a triangle basket that would serve as a waste basket and perfectly fit the space under the sink. Emily considered the space and decided to try and crochet a basket that was firm enough to hold a garbage bag but also fit the odd triangular shape created by the plumbing under the sink of our 21C. She nailed the brief and we now have perfect little 8gal waste bin.
